OneTab

OneTab converts open tabs into a list when you click its icon, then lets you restore individual tabs or the whole list. It supports importing and exporting tab lists, plus folders, tasks, notes and encrypted cross-browser sync. OneTab describes tab URLs as private, with intentional sharing as a web page as the exception, and says Google generates domain icons. That sharing action uploads your tab list to a page you can send to other people.

Session Buddy

Session Buddy saves open tabs with a click and brings tabs across windows into a single dashboard where you can view and control them. Collections organize bookmarks by project or topic, while search covers open tabs, collections and tab history. You can view and restore tabs from a specific past moment, and move tabs and bookmarks through import, export, copy and paste. Its privacy statement says it doesn't sell data, track users, run ads or send marketing emails.

Toby

Toby organizes browser tabs and links into a visual workspace, with Spaces for projects or teams and Collections that you can share through a link. You can invite teammates into a Space to add links and organize shared resources. Saving open tabs takes a click, and automatic grouping organizes related tabs. Search finds items across Spaces by title, link or note, while Next holds the tabs you pin for today's work.

Tab Session Manager

Tab Session Manager saves and restores the state of windows and tabs, and it supports automatic saving as part of that session workflow. For Chrome tab groups, Save Tab Groups for Tab Session Manager is an additional extension that handles saving those groups. The project also lists Session Compressor, a tool for compressing its sessions. These are distinct tools to consider when deciding whether your workflow involves window states, Chrome tab groups or session compression.

Tab Saver

Tab Saver keeps named groups in your Chrome profile using chrome.storage.local, without an account, cloud sync, analytics or remote favicon requests. Review titles and URLs from the current window, select pinned tabs if needed, and choose whether to close tabs after saving. Closing starts off disabled, and the extension verifies the save before closing anything, leaving selected tabs open if saving fails. Restore a group or selected tabs while retaining the saved copy, and export separate JSON backups. The free workflow includes five groups, restoring, undo and backups, with imports merging into the existing library after a group and tab count check.

How to choose and limits

Choose according to the action you repeat most, whether that's restoring a tab list, searching saved collections, sharing project links or saving window states automatically. For Tab Saver, the useful distinction is reviewing a current-window selection and verifying its save before closing the selected tabs. Its saved groups contain URLs, titles, pinned state and tab order, not unfinished forms, running pages, scroll positions or browser tab groups. It supports HTTP and HTTPS tabs, excludes incognito and settings pages, and has an approximately 8 MB storage guard. Keep a separate JSON backup because removing the extension or deleting the profile removes local data, and remember that restored websites make their usual network requests.
