Save your tabs in one click, not one by one

Tab Saver saves the tabs from your window as a named group and, if you ask it to, closes them only after every tab is confirmed saved. No account, and nothing leaves your browser.

5 tabs in this window
Untick anything you want to keep open, then save.

You know the window. Forty tabs, half of them "I'll read that later"

+ the client project21 tabs
+ the side project you swear you'll finish12 tabs
+ docs you're scared to close7 tabs
= one slow browser, and the one tab you need is never the one you find40 tabs

There's an easier way

const tabs_closed_before_saved = 0;

Pick the tabs, name the group, and get them back whenever you want

  • See every tab in the window with its title and URL
  • Untick the ones to keep open, pinned tabs start unticked
  • Name the group and hit save
  • Tick "close after saving" and it writes the group, reads it back, and only then closes the tabs
  • Save fails? Nothing closes. You see the error instead

No tab closes before it's saved.

Built for the day the other one loses everything

Verified before closing

Every tab is written to storage and read back before a single tab closes. If the write fails, your tabs stay open.

Stays in your browser

No account, no sync, no analytics. Your groups stay in the profile they were saved in unless you export them yourself.

Undo in one click

Closed the wrong set? Undo reopens the tabs from the last save that aren't already back.

Why this exists

A session manager "saved" a weekend of sorted tabs and then dropped them in an update. Third time something like that happened. So this one checks the save actually worked before it closes anything, keeps everything in your own profile, and lets you export the lot as plain JSON so a backup is always one click away.

It does one job. Five groups are free.

Questions people ask before installing

What exactly gets saved?

URLs, titles, pinned state and tab order for the HTTP and HTTPS tabs in the current window. Not unsaved forms, running pages, scroll positions, incognito tabs, settings pages or Chrome's own tab groups.

Does it close my tabs?

Only if you tick "close after saving". It's off by default. When it's on, tabs close only after the group has been written and read back.

Where is my data?

In your browser profile's local extension storage. Removing the extension or deleting the profile deletes it, so keep a JSON backup for anything important.

Does it work outside Chrome?

Yes, in any Chromium browser that installs from the Chrome Web Store: Brave, Edge, Arc, Vivaldi and others.

What happens when a save fails?

Nothing closes. The popup shows the error and your tabs stay exactly where they were.

Is there a limit?

Five groups on the free plan. Unlimited removes the group limit for $15 once. Either plan has about 8 MB of local storage, so export and delete a group if you run out.
